How to record your screen and your face at the same time on iPhone

iOS doesn't allow an app to capture the screen and the camera in one pass — that's why most screen recorders can't do facecam. ReactCam gets you the same result on a single iPhone: record your screen, then record your facecam in perfect sync while the recording plays, and export one composited video with your face picture-in-picture.

Why this is hard on iPhone

Apple's screen recording API (ReplayKit) and the camera can't both capture at full quality in a single app session. Other tools work around it with a second device filming you, or a desktop editor to merge two recordings later. Both add friction — and syncing your reaction to the screen manually is tedious.

The ReactCam way

  1. Record your screen. One tap captures any app, game, or content on your iPhone.
  2. Open it in your project. The recording lands on your timeline automatically. (You can also import any saved video instead.)
  3. Record your facecam over it. Tap FaceCam and record — the screen recording plays while your camera captures you, so every reaction lines up with the moment that caused it.
  4. Position your face. Drag the picture-in-picture overlay anywhere, pinch to resize, round the corners, mirror it, or blur/remove the background — no green screen.
  5. Export one video. Screen, facecam, and commentary audio mix independently; export up to 4K.

What you can make with it

One iPhone. Screen + face, perfectly synced.

Frequently asked questions

Can an iPhone record the screen and the front camera at the same time?

Not in a single pass — iOS restricts apps from capturing the screen and the camera simultaneously. ReactCam solves this by recording your screen first, then recording your facecam in sync while the screen recording plays back, and compositing both into one video. The result looks exactly like simultaneous capture.

Do I need a second phone or a computer to record gameplay with a facecam?

No. With ReactCam everything happens on one iPhone: capture the gameplay, then react over it with your facecam, and export a single composited video.

Will my facecam be in sync with the screen recording?

Yes. Your facecam is recorded while the screen recording plays on its timeline, so your reactions line up with the exact moments that caused them — no manual alignment needed.
